March HART Meeting Minutes
The meeting was called to order at 6:39pm by President Terry Genners.
In attendance were Lynn Madden, Jill Swank, Angela
Charnosky, Tia Brown, Dawn Knoebel, Kim Levan, Michelle Conway, Lori Burkland,
JudyLynn Weaver, Roxanne Zuber, Georgiann Noll, Karen Cecco, Sherry Humphrey,
Amy Snyder, Sue Griscavage, Terry Genners, Linda Hoy, and Joe Shirvinski
Vice Presidents report.
Sue mentioned that the staff received a cookie treat as appreciation for
the month of March. She also asked if
anyone was interested in volunteering for April. Sherry and Lynn volunteered.
Next onto Treasure’s report.
Ending balance $8760.17. The
class funds are as follows:
Kindergarten: $100
1st Grade: $844.16
2nd Grade: $1315.49
3rd Grade: $2543.00
4th Grade: $2164.68
The change in the ending balance from last month was due to
a Script card reimbursement. The Treasure’s report was approved with a motion
by Sherry Humphrey and Michelle Conway.
Secretary’s report. March
minutes were reviewed. They were
approved with a motion from Lynn Madden and Georgiann Noll.
Mr. Shirvinski just had a couple things. Snacks are in for PSSA’s which are on the 9th, 10th and 11th of this month. Helpers are needed to prepare and distribute.
Kindergarten registration. All appointments are taken. If you know someone who need to register
please have them call the office and they will need to schedule for the summer. Screenings are done in July.
Knoebels trip was discussed
next. We get a good price for trip but they
have gone up a little. The park opens one
hour earlier just for our school. Kids
are paid for but their was discussion in officers meeting as to what to do
about staff. Their was a suggestion to
pay for half or to have them pay their own way.
A discussion will be made at a later date. The trip is set for June 6th. If it rains the students will get a $5 book
of tickets.
First grade needs to borrow money
for their field trip. A large cost is due to the fact they take charter
busses.
Accelerated reading. A date is needed for the party; Mr.
Shirvinski said it will probably be in the next 2 weeks.

labels and box tops is

The contest goes until the end of
the month.
Kindergarten registration make up
day is 4/2
Title one reading in 1st grade meeting is 4/4 at
Hartman Hustle Envelops will be
sent home Friday 4/5. The top prizes
will be Cook out, snow cone party and kickball. The top participate in each grade will get
lunch at Brewsers. There will also be
raffles with prizes. Some prizes include
Knoebels tickets, 31 gift and many more.
May 1st is the event. 9:30am start.
Volunteers are needed the event starts at 9:30am
and set up should start at 8:00am . Tara takes care of all
newspaper stuff. Anyone who brings in a
donation of $20 or more will receive a shirt after the event.
Spelling Bee will be 4/19 in the
High School Auditorium. 1st/2nd
at 12:30pm and 3rd/4th
at 8:45am . Kindergarten is not included this year. Also it’s the top 3 students instead of top 5
like other years, Mr. Shirvinski said
School Board meeting is set for
4/8 and 4/15 at 7:30pm
PSSA testing 4/9 to 4/11 for 3rd
and 4th grades. Mr.
Shirvinski said they are doing PSSA Idol again this year. It’s online if you would like to see it. Mr.
Shirvinski said it goes over really well and the kids really enjoy it. It’s full of school pride. Mr. Deeter does a wonderful job of putting it
together. It will be shown on April 8th
at 1:30pm in the large group area.
Report cards are set to go home
on 4/16
Sunglass day is set for 4/10
Spring picture day is set for
4/24. Mr. Shirvinski said 3 volunteers
are needed. There is no obligation to
purchase pictures. Everyone agreed that
the spring is usually the nicest.
Kindergarten field trip to the
sports plex is 4/26
Flip flop Friday is set for 4/26
Elementary Chorus Fest is at Bloomsburg
High School on 4/26 at 7pm . Mr.
Shirvinski said that you need to try out and if picked you get to
participate. Next year we are hosting
the event. He mentioned it’s a very high
event and if you have interested to come out and enjoy.
Family and Community night is
4/29 from 6-8. Officer nominations are
being taken so if you are interested please let one of the officers of Mr.
Shirvinski know. Terry nominated current
officers Sue Griscavage for Vice President and Linda Hoy for Treasure. Lynn Madden seconded. Mr. Shirvinski suggested sending an email or
sheet home for officer election. An
outreach message was suggested instead with event and officer information.
Spring fundraiser is the Hartman
Hustle set for 5/1 volunteers are needed.
You are able to got to website from form and make donations.
Pennies for our Playground. Sherry met with maintenance and school board
to go over. Maintenance is willing to
help they are also willing to let volunteers help. She also found out that the regular mulch is
fine. Rubber mulch is only needed for
children under 3. Discussion of keeping
orange equipment or replacing it. Orange
equipment would be recycled by district.
Board hasn’t donated anything as of yet to fund. The total cost is $28,755 for equipment. They are giving us a $500 discount. It will have 4 slides, 15 play zones and 47 users
at one time. $2,490.93 just from
students and pennies. $438.98 was total
from last dump. $477.32 was raised from
the last Brewser’s event. Rita’s was a
huge hit and they ran out in 45minutes.
$196.43 was raised. Friday 4/5
will be another one and they have enough to serve 700. Dauna Knoebel won Jersey
and Sue Nicola won. $150 was sent in by
Susan granddaughter of Hartman. Bus trip on Saturday to DC is full. Community night there will be a book
sale. And someone suggested doing a
recipe book in the fall. As of now the
total raided is $13,647.19. Sherry
mentioned there are a couple grants that they haven’t heard back from,
Geisinger being one of them. Playworld
said it would take a day to install with 10 people helping. There is a Pennies facebook page. Terry
brought up a possible fundraiser of a bus trip to a winery for the fall.
Next we all voted on the design
for the T-shirt for the Hartman Hustle.
Tia had many designs. And we
voted down to one which was Maddie Griscavage.
Meet was adjourned at 7:51pm , With a motion from Karen Cecco and a 2nd
from Lynn Madden.
