Our second meeting of the school year was held on Wednesday
October 3rd. Thank you to all

Grandparents Day was a great success, Thank you to all that
attended or volunteered for the event.
It was greatly appreciated!!
Just a reminder to keep sending in those Campbell ’s
labels and Box tops. Please remember to
label with child’s name and teacher.
Also don’t forget to sign up for the Giant rewards. Thank you to all those that participate!!
HART is looking
for suggestions for possible guest speakers to have at future meetings. If you
have someone in mind, please see one of the HART officers or bring your
suggestions to the next HART meeting.
Pennies for our
Playground is a fundraiser started to purchase new playground equipment. The first meeting went well and the 2nd
meeting is October 9th at 6:30 .
They are working on some upcoming holiday events. If interested in helping with this fundraiser
please attend the meeting or contact Sherry Humphrey.
Harvest
Festival will be October 26th. Planning is underway; there will be lots of
games and activities for the children.
It’s a great day!! If you would

Fall book fair
is around the corner, October 29th to November 2nd. This year all students will receive a voucher
worth $3.99 for a book. This is instead
of the RIF ’s books that the children have received
in the past. Volunteers are still needed
for the event; please contact Danee Ryter-McCoog for information,
Homeroom parents where also chosen at this meeting. For a complete list please check this months
minutes.
We look forward to seeing all of you at some point or
another through out the school year, We
have lots of fun stuff planned for this year and would love to have every ones
input, so please join us on October 7th at 6:30 for our next HART
meeting!!

October H.A.R.T Minutes
The meeting was called to order at 6:39 on October
3, 2012 by President Terry Genners.
In attendance were Officers: President Terry Genners, Vice
President Sue Griscavage, Secretary Amy Snyder, Treasurer Linda Hoy and Advisor
Mr. Shirvinski. Parents in attendance
were: Rich Miller, Julie Petro, Jill
Swank, Debbie Bremigen, Sherry Humphrey, Janel Yancoskie, Lynn Madden, Angela
Charnosky, Judy Ann Weaver, Nancy Weaver, Mary Knoebel, Robert Eick, Vanessa
Stine Roxanne Zuber, Georgiann Noll, Kim Levan, Gloria Seroskie, Courtney
Cunningham, Stephanie Mayernick, Tia Brown, Karen Cecco, and Michelle Conway.
Sue Griscavage had nothing to report in the Vice Presidents
report.
Linda Hoy gave the Treasurers report. The general fund balance stands at $5,564.50.
4332.00 was the money brought it from Tiger Wear sale but not the profit. Sue expects the shirts to come this week. The Membership donations are $1440.00. Boyer rewards are $42.36. All class funds remained
the same. The Treasure’s Report was
approved with a motion by Karen Cecco and a second from Michelle Conway.
Amy Snyder gave the Secretary’s report which consisted only
of a review of the September minutes.
Judy Ann Weaver noted that Nancy Weaver was missed on the attendance list
for the September meeting minutes. Nancy
Weaver will be added to minutes from September.
The September minutes were approved with a motion from Lynn Madden and a
second from Linda Hoy.
Mr. Shirvinski gave the Principal’s Report. He first spoke about the success of
Grandparents. He next spoke about the
upcoming Fire Prevention Day and that Columbia
County
Terry Genners covered various topics under Old Business. She talked on the success and turnout for
Grandparents day and thanked those that helped and participated. Next she talked about the Back to School BBQ
and Meet and Greet night. That is was a
great event but some changes need to be talked about in the next officers
meeting regarding time frame of the schedule for the evening. Some of the feedback was concerns with
people in the school prior to their scheduled time. Mr. Shirvinski also noted that it is a Meet
and Greet Night not a conference. Mrs.
Weaver asked about sign up for events, Terry informed her of the sign up sheets
that are send around at the HART meetings for upcoming events. Rich made a
suggestion of rotating the kids with activates the night of Meet and Greet so
the children are occupied and not running around unattended. Also noted that more volunteers are need for
this event. Since it is most all
responsibility is put on the officers and when their children’s meeting times overlap
help is need at the food stations. Sue
mentioned in the past that Tia Brown does a scavenger hunt for the kids and
that maybe this is something we should considered doing again next year since it
wasn’t done this year. Sue also
suggested that possibly having the children at the playground but again helpers
are needed for this to take place. Georgiann
Noll suggested looking into high school helpers to get involved to help. Sue
noted that Tiger Wear delivery date is unknown but should be this week. She noted 250 items were sold. Also that 2 order forms got send to football
boosters and she just received them so them 2 orders would be late. Everyone can still order Tiger Wear for the
next 2 weeks. If interested you should
contact Sue Griscavage.
Under the topic of New Business Terry started with Committee
Chairpersons. She made note that instead
of RIF the student will now be given a $3.99 coupon for
book fair to use. The coupon is to be
used for a book and not toys. Mr.
Shirvinski noted that the money for the coupons comes from the money that was
used for RIF and the book fair. He also mentioned that the coupon was going
to be send home and a suggestion was brought up to have the teachers keep them
so they don’t get lost on the way to and from school. He also informed everyone that the
Accelerated Reading bulletin board was up and looking great. The theme is going bananas. There is a goal of 18,000 points and if
reached he will be dressing up in a gorilla costume. There was no news for Campbell ’s
labels from Stephanie Mayernick. Amy
Snyder and Janel Yancoskie mention to keep clipping box tops and that a form
will be going home in the near future to be return for the fall festival, prize
for return sheet was not known and will be discussed. Terry mentioned that the next school board
meeting will be October 8th and 15th.
Sherry Humphrey discussed the new playground
committee. She said the first meeting
went well and that the 2nd meeting will be Tuesday October 9th
at 6:30 . She discussed a fundraiser they are going to
do “Cookies with Santa” date was unknown yet but possibly December 1st
or 8th. It will be Santa,
cookies will be provided and guests can take their own pictures. They are looking for a volunteer Santa, if
anyone knows of someone please contact Sherry Humphrey’s. They are also looking for corporate donations
for the fundraiser. She asked everyone
to save their clear plastic 2lt bottles, clean with no label for the penny
drive. Their will also be a basket
raffle at the “Cookies with Santa” event. Sherry mentioned anyone interested in
donating a basket, which would be greatly appreciated. Also mentioned this more a community event
specific for playground equipment. She encouraged
anyone interested in getting involved to attend the next meeting. Mr. Shirvinski mention that his thought was
that it would be more like $30,000 for equipment and mentioned that he found
out that you need to put turf like material down not mulch. Sherry noted that this could possibly be a
more long term project considering the large amount of money that’s
needed. Linda Hoy suggested that we
possibly look at cutting out 1 family event and donate the money to the playground
project. One 2 lt bottle averages about
$25. Sherry also mentioned that
Daniamals is running a contest for 3 playgrounds worth $30,000. There are codes on Danimal products that need
to be entered online to see if you win.
Sue suggested that we send a letter home informing parents of the
contest and that if they are unable to enter the codes online they can send
them into school and they will be entered.
Linda Hoy brought up the Bloomsburg lights fundraiser. Mr. Shirvinski asked about a treasurer for
the Pennies drive.
Mary Knoebel talked about Giant A+ cards. You can sign up anytime and the school starts
to accumulated points on October 7th.
Teacher Appreciation was discussed because it was brought up
at last meeting by Rich to do a holiday Teacher Appreciation event. Sue had the suggestion of doing something
once a month for the teachers and utilizing more parent involvement. Also there will be a week of meals for the
teachers in appreciation at the end of the year. It was well liked last year with a lot of positive
feedback. Sherry suggested a secret Santa
type event.
Terry mentioned that fall pictures will be October 9th
and that volunteers will be needed. 3 photographers will be there, running from
8:20 until 12:30-1:00 . Lynn
asked about the picture that students received that she thought was from HART,
if it was going to be done this year. Mr.
Shirvinski informed that he gives out the pictures and the money comes from
the event and he will be doing it again this year.
Terry noted that Color day is the 24th of October
and not the 26th that was misprinted on the Agenda form. Terry also mentioned that Stephanie Maryernick
will be chairperson for Fire Prevention event again this year. She thanked her for chairing the event for
the 2 nd year. Breakfast and lunch will
be served and that she already has volunteers for the event. Terry
mentioned that Title 1 Breakfast will be held October 12 at 8:45-9:45 .
Mr. Shirvinski noted nothing was needed from HART for the event. Terry noted that mismatch sock and tie dye
day are on October 17th.
Harvest Festival was next and Sherry Humphrey said there will be 15
games and 3 bounce houses, corn box, face painting, scarecrow contest instead
of pumpkins this year. They have 8
judges for the event. Sherry also
mentioned that if you are lending something to the event to please put your
name on the items because last year there were several items that had unknown
owners. She mentioned that donations are
in the works for snack from Weis. Mr.
Shirvinski mentioned that the end of marking period is October 30th. Sheetz coupons will be done in the next
couple weeks this is done as a convenience Linda mentioned they are $10 books
and that we make $4 back for every book sold.
Mr. Shirvinski mentioned that the book fair is October 29th
thru November 2nd. Danee
Ryter-McCoog organizes the event. Volunteers
are still needed for the fair. Mr.
Shirvinski noted that the new rugs in the library were purchased from
Scholastic dollars that the school had.
He was also able to purchase new rugs for kindergarten, 1st
and 2nd grades. Terry brought
up about Kerry Morgan for a book event. She
is a local author of 2 children’s books and has 2 children at GC Hartman School. Mr. Shirvinski suggested having her in for the read across America
event, he would contact her to discuss. Rich
asked when HART does the food driveway and Mr. Stravinsky told him at the Fall
Harvest Festival. Sherry said they
already had a chairperson for that. Next
