February 2010 Meeting Minutes

President Laurie Morris brought the meeting to order at 6:36 p.m.

In attendance were: Officers: President-Laurie Morris, Vice-President-Karen Wojtowicz, Secretary-Stephanie Mayernick, Advisor-Mr. Shirvinski, Teacher Rep.-Shelly Pfirman and Parents: Diane Wolfgang, Diane Mack, Tom Levan, Linda Hoy, Michelle Conway, Andreas Bzdak, Dawn Knoebel, Sue Kuijpers, Marc Longenhagen, Ron Bernhard, Bridget Carl, Dawna Knoebel, Sue Griscavage and Janae Semian.

January’s minutes were approved by a motion from Sue Griscavage and a second from Bridget Carl.

Regina Longenhagen, H.A.R.T.’s treasurer, gave the treasurers report for January. The treasurer’s report was approved by a motion from Michelle Conway and a second from Linda Hoy.
The class funds are as follows:
Kindergarten $90.02 1st grade $1,097.99 2nd grade $503.85
3rd grade $2,765.63 4th grade $614.54

Mr. Reh spoke about the proposed building project.

Regina Longenhagen asked for volunteers for fundraiser distribution on March 18.

Read Across America day is March 1. There will be an assembly entitled Weird, Wild and Wonderful, about different ways to tell a story. RIF book distribution will be March 2. Mr. Shirvinski is looking for other RIF day ideas besides pajama day.

Pennies for Patients collection has started. This will benefit the Lymphoma Society. Last year we collected over $2,000.

Kindergarten registration will begin on March 22. Parents may call for appts. starting on March 1. Mr. Shirvinski will be sending home a March newsletter containing information about kindergarten registration and homeroom placements for next school year.

A stained glass window was completed in the library in memory of Terry Stellfox who passed away from cancer. He was a third grade teacher.

February 10 – Mismatch Day

During the month of February students in grades 3-6 may buy snacks during lunch if they have money in their account. Snacks must be eaten in the cafeteria. Water is extra. Lunch money rolls over from year to year. The blue slushies are 100% juice. Mr. Shirvinski will mention to his lunch bunch about recycling the water bottles.

Mr. Shirvinski spoke to Jayme Toczylousky about what outside organizations need donations. She mentioned Camp Courage. It is for children who have lost parents and is fully funded by donations. It is held at Camp Victory in Millville.

Movie night is February 19 at 6 p.m. The movie Up will be shown in the gym. Each attendee will receive a bottle of water and popcorn. Optional donations for the Red Cross are being accepted.

Family Fun Night is March 13 from 6-8 p.m. There will be a DJ in the gym and bingo in the large group area. There will be paper and crayons available for children to color. Prepackaged snacks will be available for sale. Any leftover snacks may be sold at Community Night.

The positions of President, Secretary and Treasurer will be open at the end of the year. Voting will take place on April 26 at Family & Community Night. Contact a HART officer if you are interested.

The next HART meeting will be on March 2 at 6:30 p.m.
