Mr. Shirvinski gave the Principal’s report.  He started by thanking everyone who participated in the Harvest festival for their time and efforts.  That it again was a huge success.  Sue Griscavage mentioned the one issue that came up during the festival which was a mix-up with some shoes.  Next Mr. Shirvinski presented a slideshow of the festival.   Next Terry passed around Thank you cards that Mrs. Rhoades class had made.   Mr. Shirvinski noted that Report Card would be going home one Monday November 12, 2012.  This date had been moved due to the time off caused by the hurricane.  Make-up days would be announced at a later date.

Terry Genners thanked everyone that came out for Harvest Festival.  She also thanked Sue Griscavage and Sherry Humphrey for their work since they were the chairpersons for this event.  Sue Griscavage noted that the committee spent only $632.19 of the $1500 budget.  Sue went over the thank you for all who donated and thank you will be send out.  Sherry added Mark Rohrbach for the bounce house.  Also Gary Stine and Dave Morgan huge thank you for all their help.

Terry mentioned that fall pictures were sent home but ID cards didn’t get out yet.  And composites would not be distributed until after retakes.  Retakes are November 16th.
She also mentioned that the book fair went well but was condensed due to the unexpected time off.  Mr. Shirvinski mentioned that the book fair works out well in the library, also that the coupons worked out well and were a good idea.  Sue Griscavage noted that $1507.29 was deposited from the Tiger wear fundraiser.

Next we moved on to New Business.  Mr. Shirvinski started with the 1st AR party, Cookie contest, would be held Monday November 12.  This was for all students that reached the 25 point mark with AR.  Terry Genners asked Mr. Shirvinski to explain a little more about AR and when it starts for students. Mr. Shirvinski mentioned that this year’s theme is Going Bananas.  He then discussed that its starts for a child that reaches the level I in reading.  He mentioned that it is not required and that they can take the tests at anytime.  The break downs are: 25points Cookies, 50 points dippin dots, 75 points food at lunch, and 100 points Knoebels.  Every marking period the children can earn a party.  For example if your child didn’t reach the 25points in the first marking period and didn’t get to participate in the cookie event, if they reach 25 points in the second marking period then they can participate in that cookie event.  They have the opportunity every marking period.

Next Amy Snyder said that box tops were sent in for submission and we should receive a check soon.  Mr. Shirvinski informed Sherry that he should be able to give something to the Pennies for Playground committee once he sees where he stands with box tops.  We discussed some extra ways to get box tops and what a success they have been and to continue to keep up the good work.  No totals for classrooms were given since we didn’t have labels for education totals.

Mr. Shirvinski asked how the can drive went and everyone involved said it went well.

Linda Hoy discussed the Sheetz coupons fundraiser.  She informed that 336 books were sold with a profit of $1344.  They were ordered and hopefully will be in shortly.  Totals were less than last year.

Mr. Shirvinski discussed the Turkey Bowl. It runs from 11/2 to 11/16.  He informed that he picks the class at random and they get to move there turkey down the field.  Mr. Shirvinski said that all involved really enjoy this activity.

Retake pictures for grades K-4 is set for November 16.  Elementary Memory Book sales end on the 16th.  Terry reminded everyone to get their orders in.  Sue Griscavage mentioned that the Memory Book is a big deal for those students in 4th grade due to the fact that their pictures are larger than other years.  Parent Teacher Conferences are sent for November 19 and 20 (No School). And Thanksgiving Recess starts on the 21st until 26th.  School Board meetings are set for the 12th and 19th of November.

Terry asked if everyone would be interested in doing a cookie exchange for the next meeting.  Sherry Humphrey and Karen Cecco both said it was a success last year and thought it was a good idea.  December’s meeting, set for the 5th at 6:30, if you would like please bring 1-2 dozen cookies with you and the recipe to share.
Next Mr. Shirvinski made a motion to ask for money to plan an assemble for grades K-4.  The assemble would be from Box of Light.  They do different assemblies per grade but all pertain to curriculum the children are working on. Tia Brown mentioned that they are very neat and Mr. Shirvinski mentioned that they are very creative.   Kindergarten is a reading one.  1st and 2nd is a solid liquid and gas.  3rd is weird, wild storytelling and 4th is electricity.  The total is $950 and a deposit of $475 is needed and they the balance due in January.  1st motion Tia Brown and seconded by Karen Cecco.  Motion approved.

Linda Hoy discussed Script cards and that forms should be going home this week.  She mentioned this is a convenience for parents and that we make a profit from it.  She asked if everyone could please get their orders in on time so that we can get them ordered and return to parents as soon as possible.

Tia Brown mentions that she reviewed the float fundraiser that was discussed at last meeting.  She suggested that a committee be thought of if we would like to participate in it next year.  That is would be a large undertaking and would need lots of hands.

Sherry Humphrey discussed the Pennies for playground Committee.  The kick off was November 1st.  The first “dump” date is set for November 13th and then every other week.  There is a fundraiser “Cookies with Santa” set for December 1st from 10-1. $5 per child and adults free.  There will be story time corner, coloring station and an opportunity to take your own picture with Santa.  If you were asked to bring in something for the basket raffle please send in by November 16th.   The baskets will be out for parent teacher conference and Sherry is looking for people to sign up for sell raffle tickets during this time.  Tickets will be $5 for 20 tickets.  There was a bottle set out book fair and $17.84 was collected.  10 students from Honor Society will be helping with the Story time corner.  Please keep sending in bottle.  Clear, clean bottles will continue to be needed.  Sherry is also looking into Face painting at the mall, a dress down day for high school for a donation.  Rally for recess is still going on and we are #350.

October H.A.R.T Minutes

The meeting was called to order at 6:39 on October 3, 2012 by President Terry Genners.

In attendance were Officers: President Terry Genners, Vice President Sue Griscavage, Secretary Amy Snyder, Treasurer Linda Hoy and Advisor Mr. Shirvinski.  Parents in attendance were:  Rich Miller, Julie Petro, Jill Swank, Debbie Bremigen, Sherry Humphrey, Janel Yancoskie, Lynn Madden, Angela Charnosky, Judy Ann Weaver, Nancy Weaver, Mary Knoebel, Robert Eick, Vanessa Stine Roxanne Zuber, Georgiann Noll, Kim Levan, Gloria Seroskie, Courtney Cunningham, Stephanie Mayernick, Tia Brown, Karen Cecco, and Michelle Conway.

Sue Griscavage had nothing to report in the Vice Presidents report.

Linda Hoy gave the Treasurers report.  The general fund balance stands at $5,564.50. 4332.00 was the money brought it from Tiger Wear sale but not the profit.  Sue expects the shirts to come this week.  The Membership donations are $1440.00.  Boyer rewards are $42.36. All class funds remained the same.   The Treasure’s Report was approved with a motion by Karen Cecco and a second from Michelle Conway.

Amy Snyder gave the Secretary’s report which consisted only of a review of the September minutes.  Judy Ann Weaver noted that Nancy Weaver was missed on the attendance list for the September meeting minutes.  Nancy Weaver will be added to minutes from September.  The September minutes were approved with a motion from Lynn Madden and a second from Linda Hoy.

Mr. Shirvinski gave the Principal’s Report.  He first spoke about the success of Grandparents.  He next spoke about the upcoming Fire Prevention Day and that Columbia County will be donating a model fire house for use that day.  It was used in the pasted and felt to be a great addition to the activities that day. He also noted that Fire prevention is for Kindergarten, 1st and 3rd grades.  There will be a coloring contest in which the winning class will receive a pizza party; Vandine donates for the pizza party. November 8th report cards go home.  The marking period ends on October 30th.  There will also be positive behavior news going home.  He talked about the Positive Behavior program has been a success thus far for both students and staff.  The teachers are starting to get the paw passes daily and will need to distribute them by the end of the day.

Terry Genners covered various topics under Old Business.  She talked on the success and turnout for Grandparents day and thanked those that helped and participated.  Next she talked about the Back to School BBQ and Meet and Greet night.  That is was a great event but some changes need to be talked about in the next officers meeting regarding time frame of the schedule for the evening.   Some of the feedback was concerns with people in the school prior to their scheduled time.  Mr. Shirvinski also noted that it is a Meet and Greet Night not a conference.   Mrs. Weaver asked about sign up for events, Terry informed her of the sign up sheets that are send around at the HART meetings for upcoming events. Rich made a suggestion of rotating the kids with activates the night of Meet and Greet so the children are occupied and not running around unattended.   Also noted that more volunteers are need for this event.  Since it is most all responsibility is put on the officers and when their children’s meeting times overlap help is need at the food stations.  Sue mentioned in the past that Tia Brown does a scavenger hunt for the kids and that maybe this is something we should considered doing again next year since it wasn’t done this year.   Sue also suggested that possibly having the children at the playground but again helpers are needed for this to take place.  Georgiann Noll suggested looking into high school helpers to get involved to help. Sue noted that Tiger Wear delivery date is unknown but should be this week.  She noted 250 items were sold.  Also that 2 order forms got send to football boosters and she just received them so them 2 orders would be late.  Everyone can still order Tiger Wear for the next 2 weeks.  If interested you should contact Sue Griscavage.

Under the topic of New Business Terry started with Committee Chairpersons.  She made note that instead of RIF the student will now be given a $3.99 coupon for book fair to use.  The coupon is to be used for a book and not toys.  Mr. Shirvinski noted that the money for the coupons comes from the money that was used for RIF and the book fair.  He also mentioned that the coupon was going to be send home and a suggestion was brought up to have the teachers keep them so they don’t get lost on the way to and from school.    He also informed everyone that the Accelerated Reading bulletin board was up and looking great.  The theme is going bananas.  There is a goal of 18,000 points and if reached he will be dressing up in a gorilla costume.  There was no news for Campbell’s labels from Stephanie Mayernick.  Amy Snyder and Janel Yancoskie mention to keep clipping box tops and that a form will be going home in the near future to be return for the fall festival, prize for return sheet was not known and will be discussed.  Terry mentioned that the next school board meeting will be October 8th and 15th.
Sherry Humphrey discussed the new playground committee.  She said the first meeting went well and that the 2nd meeting will be Tuesday October 9th at 6:30.  She discussed a fundraiser they are going to do “Cookies with Santa” date was unknown yet but possibly December 1st or 8th.  It will be Santa, cookies will be provided and guests can take their own pictures.  They are looking for a volunteer Santa, if anyone knows of someone please contact Sherry Humphrey’s.  They are also looking for corporate donations for the fundraiser.  She asked everyone to save their clear plastic 2lt bottles, clean with no label for the penny drive.   Their will also be a basket raffle at the “Cookies with Santa” event. Sherry mentioned anyone interested in donating a basket, which would be greatly appreciated.   Also mentioned this more a community event specific for playground equipment.  She encouraged anyone interested in getting involved to attend the next meeting.  Mr. Shirvinski mention that his thought was that it would be more like $30,000 for equipment and mentioned that he found out that you need to put turf like material down not mulch.  Sherry noted that this could possibly be a more long term project considering the large amount of money that’s needed.  Linda Hoy suggested that we possibly look at cutting out 1 family event and donate the money to the playground project.  One 2 lt bottle averages about $25.  Sherry also mentioned that Daniamals is running a contest for 3 playgrounds worth $30,000.  There are codes on Danimal products that need to be entered online to see if you win.  Sue suggested that we send a letter home informing parents of the contest and that if they are unable to enter the codes online they can send them into school and they will be entered.  Linda Hoy brought up the Bloomsburg lights fundraiser.  Mr. Shirvinski asked about a treasurer for the Pennies drive.

Mary Knoebel talked about Giant A+ cards.  You can sign up anytime and the school starts to accumulated points on October 7th

Teacher Appreciation was discussed because it was brought up at last meeting by Rich to do a holiday Teacher Appreciation event.  Sue had the suggestion of doing something once a month for the teachers and utilizing more parent involvement.  Also there will be a week of meals for the teachers in appreciation at the end of the year.  It was well liked last year with a lot of positive feedback.  Sherry suggested a secret Santa type event.

Terry mentioned that fall pictures will be October 9th and that volunteers will be needed. 3 photographers will be there, running from 8:20 until 12:30-1:00Lynn asked about the picture that students received that she thought was from HART, if it was going to be done this year.  Mr. Shirvinski informed that he gives out the pictures and the money comes from the event and he will be doing it again this year.

Terry noted that Color day is the 24th of October and not the 26th that was misprinted on the Agenda form.  Terry also mentioned that Stephanie Maryernick will be chairperson for Fire Prevention event again this year.  She thanked her for chairing the event for the 2 nd year.  Breakfast and lunch will be served and that she already has volunteers for the event.   Terry mentioned that Title 1 Breakfast will be held October 12 at 8:45-9:45.  Mr. Shirvinski noted nothing was needed from HART for the event.  Terry noted that mismatch sock and tie dye day are on October 17th.  Harvest Festival was next and Sherry Humphrey said there will be 15 games and 3 bounce houses, corn box, face painting, scarecrow contest instead of pumpkins this year.  They have 8 judges for the event.  Sherry also mentioned that if you are lending something to the event to please put your name on the items because last year there were several items that had unknown owners.  She mentioned that donations are in the works for snack from Weis.   Mr. Shirvinski mentioned that the end of marking period is October 30th.  Sheetz coupons will be done in the next couple weeks this is done as a convenience Linda mentioned they are $10 books and that we make $4 back for every book sold.  Mr. Shirvinski mentioned that the book fair is October 29th thru November 2nd.  Danee Ryter-McCoog organizes the event.  Volunteers are still needed for the fair.  Mr. Shirvinski noted that the new rugs in the library were purchased from Scholastic dollars that the school had.   He was also able to purchase new rugs for kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grades.  Terry brought up about Kerry Morgan for a book event.  She is a local author of 2 children’s books and has 2 children at GC Hartman School.   Mr. Shirvinski suggested having her in for the read across America event, he would contact her to discuss.  Rich asked when HART does the food driveway and Mr. Stravinsky told him at the Fall Harvest Festival.  Sherry said they already had a chairperson for that.  Next Sue picked homeroom parents.

Introductions of officers and all those present at the meeting took place.

Sue had nothing new to report in the Vice President's Report.

Treasurer Linda Hoy was not present for this meeting so the Treasurer's Report was given by Sue Griscavage. The general fund balance stands at $5,564.50. The class funds are as follows:
Kindergarten:$100.00
1st Grade: $844.16
2nd Grade: $1,315.49
3rd Grade: $2,834.00

Sue explained to everyone the difference between class funds and the general fund. She further explained that class funds are used for field trips, etc. and that a portion of fundraising money is allocated to the classes based on percentage of students in each grade who participate.
The Treasurer's Report was approved with a motion by Karen Wojtowicz and a second from Sherry Humphrey.

Suzanne Kuijpers gave the Secretary's report which consisted only of a review of the May minutes. The May minutes were approved with a motion from Danee Ryter McCoog and a second from Janel Yancoskie.

Mr. Shirvinski gave the Principal's Report. He first spoke of the school wide positive behavior program (positive paws club). He said the goal is to recognize all positive behavior that is being exhibited everyday. He said that the students get to sign the "celebrity book" when they have received a paw pass and then they go on the board in the lobby and can possibly win an incentive (known only to Mr. Shirvinski). He further explained that the students have been instructed on what the expectations are on the bus, in the classrooms, lunch room, etc.. If they do not follow the rules, they are "re-taught" the expectations.
Mr. Shirvinski thanked HART for donating $2,000.00 to the new ROAR tee shirts that were given to all elementary students. The remainder of the money for the tee shirts came from the activity fund. There are additional tee shirts for anyone who is interested and they will sell for $7.00.
Mary Knoebel reminded everyone that the Giant A Plus Rewards Program will begin on October 7th.She also reminded parents that you need to register your card every year and encouraged people to do so as the money received from Giant then goes to the student activity fund. Mr. Shirvinski thanked Mary for her help with the Giant Rewards Program.
Mr. Shirvinski then spoke about some ideas for creating a data base of parent email addresses so that parents could communicate with one another and possibly send birthday invitations. Mr. Shirvinski explained that birthday invitations cannot be passed out at school and this data base would provide a way for parents to get information to each other about parties, etc.. This would be strictly parent to parent communication. HART is looking for someone willing to take on the task of putting this all together. If you are interested in this, please see Mr. Shirvinski or one of the HART officers.
Mr. Shirvinski also thanked the volunteers who have been coming in to help with the Kindergarten lunches-sign up sheet is available looking for few more volunteers for this.
The Tiger Talk newsletter is available online and Mr. Shirvinski said it can be found under parent resources. He encouraged parents to check this for information as well as the district calendar for important dates.
Fire Prevention Day will take place on October 10th and Mr. Shirvinski said volunteers will be needed from 8:30-12:00 that day to help serve lunch to the firemen,etc.. Kindergarten, 1st Grade and 3rd Grade will go to the demonstrations that day.
Mr. Shirvinski told parents that Mr. Deeter will be attending an upcoming HART meeting and further explained that he is taking the permanent position previously held by Mrs. Brecht in the Guidance Department.

Terry Genners covered various topics under Old Business. She said that the Back To School BBQ will be held now on the night of Meet and Greet which is September 13th. Parents will have the opportunity to meet your child's teacher and learn grade expectations. She asked for people to send in their RSVP's for this event as soon as possible. She added that the grills and bottled water for the BBQ are being donated by Knoebel's and thanked them for their generosity. Sign up sheet still available for volunteers needed for this event.
Sue Griscavage said that Kindergarten orientation went well and she is hopeful that there will be good participation in HART this year. It was also mentioned that HART will be open to suggestions from parents for guest speakers for future HART meetings.
Terry added that the new ROAR tee shirts have been distributed to all students.

Under the topic of New Business, Mr. Shirvinski made a motion to accept the resignation of HART Secretary Kristene Baldwin. Kristene resigned from her position over the summer due to other obligations. This motion received a second from Richard Miller. There was then a motion to nominate Amy Snyder to the Secretary position by Jen Dunkelberger. Her motion received a second from Karen Wojtowicz. Both of these motions were voted on unanimously by all those present at the meeting. Amy Snyder will now serve as the new HART Secretary.
The HART budget for this school year was then reviewed by those present at the meeting and all were given the opportunity to ask questions regarding this. This year's budget was approved with a motion by Amy Snyder and a second from Richard Miller.
Terry then explained to everyone the various chairpersons involved in school activities. She explained that Renelle Wetzel is in charge of RIF (looking for new name for this program as it is no longer government sponsored). Mr. Shirvinski said that we may be looking into giving out a coupon to students which they could redeem at Book Fair (Amount not to exceed $3.99) for one book as opposed to having RIF book distribution day.
Terry said that the A.R. Program chairperson is Dawna Knoebel.
Campbell's Soup Labels and Tyson are taken care of by Stephanie Mayernick.
HART is currently looking for someone to take over the handling of Box Top collection and submission.
She explained that we have a contest for the classes with a combined total of Tyson, Box Tops and Campbell's labels and the top 3 classes receive a party at the end of the year.
Mr. Shirvinski added that we received over $4,000.00 last school year from Box Tops, etc. which goes in to the Activity Fund which purchases things for the school and students. Sue Griscavage told everyone that you can even receive Box Tops from online shopping. Amy Snyder and Janel Yancoskie volunteered to take over Box Tops at this time. Terry thanked them for coming forward to take on this task.
Terry told those present that Grandparent's Day will be on September 18th and 19th and HART will be looking for a few volunteers for these days.
She reminded parents that students will be permitted to wear flip flops on Sept. 21st for "FLIP FLOP FRIDAY".
Sue Griscavage spoke about the upcoming Fall Festival which will take place on October 26th. She said that it is an all day event held outside in which the students play games, do a craft, enjoy a snack ,etc. It is held in conjunction with a canned food drive which gets distributed to local food pantries. Sue Griscavage and Sherry Humphrey co-chaired this event last year. There will be a sign up sheet for those interested in being part of the festival planning committee.
It was also mentioned that the Fall Book Fair will be held Oct.26-Nov.1 and is open to the public. Danee Ryter Mc Coog is the chairperson for Book Fair and she will be looking for volunteers to help with this event as well.
Terry spoke of HART Fall Fundraising which will include the Tiger Wear sale and Sheetz coupon books. Info on Tiger Wear was already sent home with the students and Sheetz info will be upcoming.
Mr. Shirvinski thanked those who have registered their Target Visa card with G.C. Hartman . They have a reward program and he recently received a check from them which also goes into the activity fund. If you have a Target Visa you can designate G.C. Hartman with them and participate in the reward program.
Sue also reminded those at the meeting to use your Boyer's Rewards cards as well-HART has more Boyer's cards for those who do not already have one.
Mr.  Shirvinski spoke about the Hartman Helpers Volunteer Program. He said that this is a program for those who want to help in a long term capacity in the library, cafeteria, office , classrooms, etc.. This is not for those who just want to volunteer for class room parties , etc as you need to have your clearances for the Hartman Helpers Program. Your clearances stay good as long as you continue to volunteer. Papers went home with students about this program and should be sent back in as soon as possible. Mr. Shirvinski encouraged people to get the word out to grandparents in the community as we would love to have them volunteer as well.
Mr. Shirvinski addressed questions regarding the problems with the air conditioning system. He said that an engineer will be looking at the system to trouble shoot as the system is not currently working properly. He said that there are fans in the classrooms but some of them are still very warm and so you should dress your children appropriately.
Sherry Humphrey suggested we do some fundraising to try to raise funds to purchase new playground equipment. She mentioned the idea of a penny drive, etc. to get the ball rolling. Mr. Shirvinski asked if she would be willing to chair a committee to look into the possibility of this. Sherry agreed and will be forming a committee soon-sign up sheet available for those interested in helping her with this project.
Richard Miller suggested we do something special for teachers around the holidays-this will be discussed in more detail at a future meeting.
Terry reminded everyone that our next meeting will be on October 3rd and homeroom parents will be picked at this meeting.
Terry thanked everyone for coming to our first HART meeting of the school year and thanked everyone for their input.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:42 p.m. with a motion by Karen Cecco and a second from Richard Miller.

The meeting was called to order at 6:35 p.m.on May 2,2012 by President Karen Wojtowicz.

In attendance were: Officers: President Karen Wojtowicz, Vice President Sue Griscavage, Treasurer Linda Hoy, Secretary Suzanne Kuijpers and Advisor Mr. Shirvinski. Parents: Danee Ryter-McCoog, Stacey Fenstermacher, Karen Cecco, Dawna Knoebel, Kristene Baldwin, Terry Genners, Sherry Humphrey, Richard Miller, Dawn Knoebel and Michelle Conway.

Sue Griscavage gave the Vice President's Report. She noted that Teacher Appreciation Week was going well and seems to be greatly enjoyed by all the teachers. Sue said that some gifts were raffled off for the teachers. The raffle prizes were Sheetz coupons, Massages and flowers. The budgeted amount for teacher appreciation was $1000.00 but only $496.66 was spent due to donations from individuals and businesses.
Sue also spoke about the Hartman Helper Luncheon which is May 14th at 12:00 in the large group area.
Sue presented gifts to the outgoing HART officers on behalf of HART and the parents. Gifts were given to President Karen Wojtowicz and Secretary Suzanne Kuijpers as a thank you for their service.

Linda Hoy gave the Treasurer's Report. The general fund balance stands at $21,132.80. The class funds are as follows:
Kindergarten: $0
1st Grade: $0
2nd Grade: $2,318.09
3rd Grade: $988.53
4th Grade: $1,616.69
Linda noted that Kindergarten and 1st Grade are in the negative due to payments for their field trips. These amounts do not reflect money raised at the Hartman Hustle which will give them a balance.
Linda explained that the total raised at The Hartman Hustle is $11,204.36, however, deductions will come out of this amount. Sue Griscavage commented that the event was very well organized and seemed like a great success. Linda said that the top 3 classes for The Hustle are as follows: Mrs. Spotts class who won a snow cone party, Mrs. Gratti's class who won a kickball with Mr. Shirvinski game, and Mrs. Sharrow's class who won a pizza party. On May 17th the Limo To Lunch With Mr. Shirvinski will take place for the top students in each grade.
Linda thanked all those who volunteered their time at The Hartman Hustle. Mr. Shirvinski thanked Linda for organizing the event as well. Linda also gave thanks to those who donated items used as prizes: Knoebel's who donated tickets, Michelle Conway who donated frisbees, etc., and Terry Genners who donated "Thirty One" bags.
There was a motion to approve the Treasurer's report by Terry Genners and a second from Dawn Knoebel. The Treasurer's Report was then approved.

Suzanne Kuijpers gave the Secretary's Report which consisted of only a review of the April Minutes. The April Minutes were approved with a motion from Rich Miller and a second from Michelle Conway.

Mr. Shirvinski gave the Principal's Report. A check in the amount of $1914.94 was received from Box Tops. Mr. Shirvinski talked about the AR Reward in which he will be made into a human sundae. This event will take place on May 9th at 10:20 a.m.. Mr Shirvinski told everyone that HART will be getting a new area where Title 1 Reading used to be. He also told those present that Movin' On Up Day will take place on May 24th with letters going home with students on May23rd. There was also discussion about the 4th Grade tee shirts and how they will be paid for.
Mr. Shirvinski talked about 2 summer programs for students. "Ready, Set, Grow" is for students who will be entering Kindergarten in the Fall. This program has been in place since 2005 and is very beneficial to students who need a little extra help and encouragement. There is no bus transportation so parents need to provide transportation for their children. There is a maximum of 25 students and there is currently a waiting list. The other program is a Reading Program done in conjunction with Bloomsburg University and is for students in K-4 with reading difficulties.
Mr. Shirvinski also talked about the Knoebel's Day which will be held on May 30th. There will be no rain date , however, it was determined that HART will provide a $10.00 book of tickets to students if the weather is too bad for the school to be able to go on the trip. Mr. Shirvinski noted that if students owe $ for lost books or owe $ for unpaid lunches, they will not be able to attend the Knoebel's trip. Parents will be notified in the event that any money is past due.
Mr. Shirvinski informed those present that a school nurse must accompany field trips. This is a state policy and so the nurse must be a school nurse and not just someone from outside the school.
He said that the school's spelling bee was a huge success and will probably take place again next year.

There was some discussion at this point of the meeting about The Fit For Funds Fundraiser. There was a vote to see if we should do it again next year. This vote was approved with a motion from Kristene Baldwin and a second from Karen Cecco. Richard Miller suggested doing a 15/5 split of the fee that needs to be paid to Tara from Fit For Funds and also suggested a 70/30 split for general funds and class funds. His motion was declined due to no other votes for his suggestions. It was decided through a motion by Michelle Conway and a second from Sue Griscavage, to give Tara her fee 10% this year and 10% next year. The class funds will receive 75% and the general funds will receive 25%--this was voted on with a motion from Rich Miller and a second from Kristene Baldwin.
The following are Box Top only totals for top classrooms:
Mrs. Spotts-2526
Mrs. Rhodes-2001
Mrs. Pfirman-1888
Mrs. Gratti-1819
There was discussion about looking for area businesses who would allow us to place drop off boxes for box tops and labels in their establishments.
Karen introduced the 2 new HART officers to everyone at the meeting. Our new HART President for next school year will be Terry Genners and our new HART Secretary will be Kristene Baldwin.

Our Spring Book Fair amount was $ 10,937.55. Mr. Shirvinski announced that there will be only one book fair per school year as of Fall 2012.Thank you to all those who volunteered at Book Fair and to Danee for organizing it!
Mr. Shirvinski made a motion to pay 50% of the 4th Grade tee shirts and the other 50% will be from their class funds. This was approved with a second from Linda Hoy.
The Back To School BBQ was another topic of discussion at the meeting. The possibility of changing the time was debated because it has interfered with sports practices and sometimes with people's work schedules. There was a motion by Karen Wojtowicz to not have The Back To School BBQ prior to the start of school which received a second from Karen Cecco. The discussion of whether or not to have the event after the start of school will take place at the summer officer's meeting.

Karen Wojtowicz mentioned that Mrs. Brown needs help setting up for the Art Show. The Art Show will be held on May16th from 6:00-8:00 p.m.. Contact Mrs. Brown if you are able to help.
There was also some discussion of how new people could be encouraged to attend monthly HART meetings.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:08 p.m. with a motion from Karen Cecco and a second from Danee Ryter McCoog

If the parent of a student requiring meds. is not available to attend the trip, the school nurse or another RN or LPN must be on the trip. If a nurse would not be available, the trip would have to be canceled. Mr. Shirvinski added that all field trips for the school year have been covered with an RN and none will need to be canceled. A question was asked if another RN could step in if the school nurse is not available and Mr. Shirvinski will be checking on this detail.
