We will be having a
Winter Carnival on February 22nd from 6-8
pm in the Elementary School.
Watch for more information to come home soon. Also remember to fill up the Box Top form to
bring along to the Carnival!!! This is
sure to be fun for the whole family!!!
Please continue to send in Box Tops and Campbell ’s
Labels. Remember to mark with student’s
teacher name so the class gets credit for them.

February HART Meeting Minutes
The meeting was called to order at 6:37pm by President Terry Genners.
In attendance were Suzanne Kuijpers, Dawn Knoebel, Kim
Levan, Judy Lynn Weaver, Karen Cecco, Roxanne Zuber, Sherry Humphrey, Loni
Burkland, Karen Wojtowicz, Terry Genners, Sue Griscavage and Joe Shirvinski.
Vice Presidents report.
Sue discussed that SMART is looking for people to take officer
positions. Please contact Laurie Morris
if interested or have questions.
Also AYSO is looking for volunteers to help them. If interested please contact Janae Simean.
Next onto Treasure’s report.
Linda was not in attendance so Terry went over the Treasures
report. Ending balance $9424.67. The class funds are as follows:
Kindergarten: $100
1st Grade: $844.16
2nd Grade: $1315.49
3rd Grade: $2843.68
4th Grade: $2164.68
The Treasure’s report was approved with a motion by Loni
Burkland and a second from Dawn Knoebel.
Secretary’s report.
Amy was not in attendance.
January’s minutes were reviewed.
They were approved with a motion from Sherry Humphrey and a 2nd
from Roxanne Zuber.
Next Mr. Shirvinski went over the Principal’s report. Mr. Caputo began as Superintendent. He will come to march HART meeting to meet
everyone and introduce himself.
Mr. Shirvinski is looking for volunteers to help with PSSA
testing: he wants to do snack for students.
Maybe volunteers could pick up snacks at SAM’s club, etc. and bag them
to give to students on testing days. The
week of April 8th is possible for PSSA’s. Let Mr. Shirvinski know if you are
interested. This would take place of
breakfast on test days.
Grades 3rd and 4th February 12th
will be testing for “writing” (pilot program).
This testing will not count.
March 8th is School make up day
March 11th---No School (Act 80)
As of right now school will be in session until June 7th.
Kindergarten Registration is set for March 18-22. Make up date April 2nd. Please register even if you are not sure you
are sending them because it is much easier than waiting until the last minute. Must be 5 years old by September 1, 2013 .
New business. Karen
Wojtowicz gave an update on the upcoming Winter Carnival. This is set for February 22nd from 6:00pm -8:00pm . Mrs. Brown is planning a craft. There will be 2 bounce houses, line dancing;
Mr. Shirvinski will be doing BINGO. Also
will do Box Top sheet for the event.
Snacks will be snow cones, cereal bars (left from Harvest festival).
Chips and pretzels.
Used Book Sale . Please drop off gently used kid or adult
books off at school by Tuesday February
12, 2013 .
Sue discussed that Laurie Morris from SMART has “SCA”
merchandise (tee shirts, socks, backpacks, etc) She would like to sell it all
to HART for $3034.00 but may settle for $2500.
HART discussed this; Sue will ask Laurie if we can buy a few things but
not all. Will suggest she can sell the
stuff at HART events.
Looking for volunteers for Winter Carnival- approximately 20
people. If interested please contact
Karen Wojtowicz.
School Board Meeting are on the 11th and the 18th
at &:30pm,
February 8th ---Make up day—school in session
Red day will be on February 14th (kindergarten
threw 4th)
Act 80 day No classes February 15th and 18th
Fit for funds set for May 1st. Students that raise $20 and will get a tee
shirt; will get shirt after event.
Students will wear ROAR tee shirts for the walk.
February 23 will be the1st ever Title One Parent
Meeting. 10:00-11:00am
room 115 or 6:00-7:00pm in Large
Group Area.
May 31st is Relay Recess. Lauren Day is chairperson. Kids will participate in Relay during school
hours.
Sherry Humphrey updated everyone with the progress from
Pennies for our Playground. $359 raised
this month on pennies. $1000.00 raised
from Pajama Day from Box Tops, money from wearing pj’s etc. They are also still
receiving some donations from businesses.
Tickets for sale for Raffle of Henry Hynoski signed jersey and
football. Tickets are $5. Already raised $300.00. Drawing will be held on March 10th.
March 10th will also be “Brewser’s Night” again.
Mr. Shirvinski and Sherry met with Play world recently. Our playground area is great for their
equipment. They gave her brochures to
start selecting equipment. Tim George
will be talking to representatives from Play world: liability with removal of
old play ground equipment.
Bake Sale on February
19th in the High School, you can donate baked goods. Let Sherry know if you want to bake
something. There was discussion about
how to pay for postal expenses for “pennies for our Playground”
